05 COVID-19 TESTS

Are travellers required to take any pre-departure COVID-19 tests?
Yes. Travellers must undergo a COVID-19 Real-Time Reverse Transcription Polymerase
Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test within 2 days before departure for Malaysia.
Children aged 6 years and below based on the calendar year (i.e. in the year 2022,
those who are born in or after 2016), are exempted from Pre-Departure Testing.
If the pre-departure test is taken on 1 April 2022, it will be valid for departure up to 3
April 2021, 2359 hours.
For countries which have bilateral agreement with Malaysia, pre-departure COVID-19
test may be exempted, and depending on route of travel (air, land, sea).
As of 1st April, the following countries have been exempted from the requirement for
pre-departure COVID-19 test:
• Singapore – Travellers from Singapore by land do not need to take any test.
Travellers from Singapore by air can take a professionally administered or supervised
COVID-19 antigen rapid test.
Travellers who were detected positive between 6 – 60 days before arrival should take
a professionally administered or supervised COVID-19 antigen rapid test.
