Are there any testing requirements for travellers who transit in Malaysia before
No. Testing is not required by Malaysian authorities as long as the traveller does not
leave the point of disembarkation. However, travellers should check with the authorities
of the destination country if testing is required within a certain period of time before
arrival to the destination country.
2. Are there testing requirements for travellers who transit in Peninsular Malaysia
before travelling to East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak)?
Yes. Travellers should get a professional RTK-Antigen test done at the first international point of
entry to Malaysia before travelling to East Malaysia (Sabah and Sarawak). If the test is positive,
travellers are not allowed to continue their journey to Sabah/Sarawak and are required to undergo
their isolation period at a hotel or accommodation of their choice in Peninsular Malaysia.
Travellers who are partially or not vaccinated also need to undergo their quarantine period at a
hotel or accommodation of their choice in Peninsular Malaysia before travelling to Sabah/Sarawak.
