EXECUTIVE
SUMMARY
Health literacy in Malaysia has witnessed notable developments in
recent years, signifying a growing awareness toward the importance of
health information in societal decision-making. The concept of health
literacy extends beyond formal education and encompasses the ability
of individuals to access, comprehend, evaluate, and apply health-related
information in their daily lives.
The Malaysian healthcare system has recognized the significance of
enhancing health literacy among its population. Efforts have been
made to promote a deeper understanding of health-related matters,
encourage active engagement in healthcare decisions, and foster a
sense of responsibility for one’s well-being.
